Collection consists of photographs depicting a group of surveyors, Royal Engineers, Indians, and American and British Commissioners. Also included are views of a surveyors' camp, an Indian camp, surveyed sites, wagon trains, equipment as well as a tintype of Thomas Bartley Tracy taken in Chicago upon his return from working with the North American Boundary Commission.

The photographer is unknown, as is the reason for the numbering shown on the photograph mounting paper. Thomas Bartley Tracy evidently collected the photographs while with the NAB Commission.
