They enter a building and speak with a man behind the counter in the office. They are hired and sign papers to that effect. At this time the going rate for mine workers was $4.25 to $5.25 per day.~The miners get into a mine shaft elevator and a man closes the gate and the elevator descends. Two men unload cars loaded with mineral rock near the elevator. The load of rock is raised in the elevator.~After the day's work the miners come up from the mine. In the locker room they change out of their mining clothes and wash off. The men are served food from a serving counter and they eat, seated in the dining room.~After dinner the miners relax and read in the recreation room before going to bed. <5mn>Language:SilentOriginal number:2256Notes:Detailed holdings information: -
