World Stamp Expo (1989 : Washington, D.C.) : The World Stamp Expo '89 was the hosted by the United States Postal Service, the first international stamp show to be hosted by this postal authority. The show was organized by a Director and Exhibition Manager, aided by the World Stamp Expo '89 Staff and advised by the World Stamp Expo '89 Advisory Panel. The latter group was a panel of individuals representing philatelic organizations and periodicals, of dealers, and of officials related to earlier stamp shows. The Expo was held during the 20th Congress of the Universal Postal Union, only the second such convention to take place in the United States. The Expo consisted of displays and events mounted by various postal authorites, societies, and dealers.
