Two television documentaries portray the current conflict in Ireland between Protestants and Catholics, and between the Irish and the British. The first film examines the situation in Northern Ireland following the death of Patty McGregan(?), former member of the I.R.A. Archival films draw parallels between the present-day situation and the Irish Republic's struggle for independence from 1916 to 1921. Included is footage of: the 1971 uprisings in Belfast; British Army convoys; Irish Republican Army leader John Kelly discussing the tactical necessity of the Orange Order, addresing a crowd in Ulster. The second film examines the conflict from the view of Southern Ireland, where the I.R.A. still prevails in spite of its people who welcome the idea of reunification and British attempts to establish peace among the nationalists and sectarians of the country.~An extensive interview is held with David Neligan, former member of the Old Brigade of I.R.A. Senator Neville Keery and Father Fergel O'Connor, Dominican, discuss the question of reunification and peace. Includes a commentary by Tim Pat Coogan, editor-historian. Also seen is a sequence on Eamon De Valera, President of Republic of Ireland, arriving at ceremony commemorating the Old Brigade of I.R.A. that fought during the civil war of 1916. <60mn>
