Glacier National Park (Canada) : Glacier National Park, in the Selkirk and Purcell Mountain Ranges, was established in 1886. The spectacular scenery along the recently completed Canadian Pacific Railway suggested a potential for tourism. Lodges and hotels were built to entice travellers with the Rogers Pass as the centerpiece. The park's first visitor facilities were developed by the railway company in response to the needs of its passengers. The park is run by a superintendent and its administrative offices for the park are shared with Mount Revelstoke National Park in Revelstoke, British Columbia.
