Canadian Government Travel Bureau : The Canadian Travel Bureau was established in 1933 to promote Canadian Tourist Features and was mainly oriented towards the American Market. Beginning with the Department of Railways and Canals, the Bureau was moved to the Department of Transport in 1936, where it remained until 1941. Over the next three decades, the Bureau was transferred to a number of different departments, until finally settling permanently in 1962 at the Department of Trade and Commerce. In 1973 the Bureau's name was changed to the Marketing Branch of the Canadian Government Office of Tourism.
