Radio program in a series about contemporary issues in religion. This program explores how Christianity should deal with efforts to achieve racial equality. First is an interview of Robert Raymond Brown, the Episcopal Bishop of Little Rock, Arkansas. Brown talks about: the movement to integrate blacks and whites; the appropriate role for the church in assisting desegregation; and how blacks have slowly become accepted as parishioners and delegates to church councils. Little Rock no longer has segregated hotels and most restaurants, sporting events and other entertainment spots are now open to both blacks and whites.~The next interviewee is [Philip Mason], the former director of the Institute of Race Relations. He compares the plight of black people in the American South with the situation in South Africa and the growth of racial strife in Britain.~There is an interview the Reverend Dr. Donald [Timkoulu], an African clergyman. He talks about how racial problems in the United States affect the African view of Christianity. He feels that efforts by U.S. churches to combat segregation will help the development of Christianity in Africa. The recording concludes with comments by [Mason] and [Timkoulu].
