Interview of Paul L'Anglais, key figure in the Quebec feature film industry, by researchers for the National Film Board production HAS ANYBODY HERE SEEN CANADA?, which traces the history of filmmaking in Canada from 1939 to 1953. L'Anglais, producer for Quebec Productions Corporation, reviews the development of filmmaking in Quebec; discusses his role in opposing the Canadian Cooperation Project; and talks about the effects of American dominance; the advent of television; and the influence of the Catholic Church and Federal Government on the Canadian film industry. Among contemporary personalities mentioned are: Guy Roberge, first Francophone Film Commissioner of the NFB; Jean Dansereau, Quebec filmmaker; Robert Winters, Chairman of the NFB; Blake Owensmith, Canadian Cooperation Project; and C.D. Howe, Minister of Trade and Commerce. L'Anglais also talks about the filming of LA FORTERESSE/WHISPERING CITY, which he produced, and which was shot simulaneously in both English and French versions.
