Lipscombe recalls her job in 1940 for the British Supply Board inspecting 25 pound shells at the Robert Mitchell Company plant in Montreal. Focusing on the precision required in her work, Lipscombe describes the steps involved in the inspection and quality control of the shells as well as the hazardous working conditions in the plant at the time. Also discussed is Lipscombe's heavy responsibility for the care of the home and children and her fulltime shift work at the plant while her husband was overseas.
