The fonds consists of three portrait miniatures by Louie Burrell (1873-1971) who was an English artist who came to Canada for a short time and painted portraits while here. The three are: Portrait of Mrs. Martin Burrell (wife of her relative from Ottawa), Portrait of the Son of Mr. and Mrs. Crawley Ricardo (of Victoria, Britsh Columbia), and an Unidentified Woman, all portraits ca. 1912-1916.

Burrell, Louie, 1873-1971 : Louie (Luker) Burrell (1873-1971) was an internationally renowned miniaturist. Born in London to artistic English parents; she left for Canada in 1912. She struggled financially most of her life, being awarded a grant by The Artistic General Benevolent Institution at the age of 80.
