Sub-sub-series consists of equipment, operating, and maintenance grant files. The files constitute a selection of medical researchers receiving grant from the MRC in the years 1954-1971. Each file contains an application, a report on finished research, an evaluation and any applications for extension of the grant.

In the Medical Research Council's (MRC's) first grants and awards registry system, the equipment, operating and maintenance grant files were maintained in record blocks 9970, 9975, and 9980 respectively. In the MRC's later grants and awards registry system -- which has been maintained by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research -- these records were filed in record blocks 1470, 1475, and 1480 respectively.
