Quebec and Saguenay Railway Company : The Quebec and Saguenay Railway Company was incorporated under Quebec Act, 5 Edward VII, Cap. 55 of 20 May 1905 to construct a line from St. Joachim on the line of the Quebec Railway, Light and Power Company, which had a substantial interest in the undertaking along the north shore of the St. Lawrence. A 62.8 mile line as far as Naim Falls was put under construction. Work was suspended in 1912 and, in response to an appeal by the owners, the Dominion Government agreed to purchase and complete the line (Dominion Act, 6-7 Geo. V, Cap. 22 of 18 May 1916). The actual purchase took place on 4 March 1919.
