Canadian Northern Town Properties Company : The Canadian Northern Town Properties Company, Limited was incorporated under Dominion Letters Patent on 22 October 1913 in order to provide security for the sale of =3,500,000 of 5% Canadian Northern Railway Land Mortgage Debentures. Mackenzie Mann and Company owned considerable land as town sites in five provinces and Minnesota. In order to use these as security for the Canadian Northern debentures, the new company was formed and Mackenzie, Mann and Company transferred the town site titles to it taking in return the capitol stock and a debenture issue. This stock and the debentures issued by the Canadian Northern Town Properties Company, Limited was then loaned by Mackenzie and Mann to the Canadian Northern Railway, which in turn used them as security for its own land mortgage debentures. The company was administered until 1937 by the Canadian Northern Railway, which by then was part of the Canadian National Railway system. In that year the remaining equity in the company of Mackenzie, Mann and Company was acquired. On 4 August 1938 the assets of the Canadian Northern Town Properties Company, Limited were transferred to the Canadian National Realties Company, Limited and the charter was surrendered in 1945.
