Montreal and Vermont Junction Railway Company : The Montreal and Vermont Junction Railway Company, a project of the Vermont and Canada Railroad, was incorporated under Province of Canada Act, 24 Vic., Cap. 81 of 18 May 1861. A 22.77 mile line from the end of the Vermont and Canada tracks at the Vermont/Quebec border near Swanton, Vermont, to a junction with the Stanstead, Shefford and Chambly Railroad near Iberville, Quebec, was completed in 1864. The company was acquired by the Central Vermont in 1899. On 11 June 1956 the Montreal and Vermont Junction Railway Company merged with and took the name of the Canadian National Railway Company.
