North Simcoe Railway Company : The North Simcoe Railway Company was incorporated on 24 March 1874, under Ontario Act, 37 Vic., Cap. 55, to build a railway from or near Barrie to Penetanguishene. This line, totaling 33.65 miles between Colwell and Penetanguishene, was built on behalf of the North Simcoe by the Northern Railway and immediately leased. It was opened for traffic in 1878 and operated by the Northern, and the Northern and North Western until 1888 when it passed with them into Grand Trunk control. The North Simcoe Railway Company officially terminated in 1893 when it amalgamated with and took the name of the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada. RG30 General Inventory
