Sub-series consists of records created and maintained by the North Shore Railway Company (Quebec) and includes minutes, 1882-1884, fiscal records, 1880-1889, and traffic records, 1883-1885.

While never owned by the Grand Trunk, some records may relate to the Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa and Occidental Railway Company. This Railway Company was owned by the Province of Quebec and was incorporated in the province on 24 December 1875 (39 Vic., Cap. 2) to operate a railway between Quebec and Aylmer. When The North Shore Railway Company (Quebec) was sold to a private syndicate the remainder from Montreal to Aylmer was sold to the Canadian Pacific Railway Company in 1882 (45 Vic., Cap. 19).

North Shore Railway Company (Quebec) : The North Shore Railway Company (Quebec), prior to the planned construction of a line on the St. Lawrence North Shore between Quebec and Montreal, transferred all property to the Province of Quebec on 11 August 1875. The Provincial Government, on 24 December 1875, transferred it to the Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa and Occidental Railway Company. The first 159.76 miles between Quebec and St. Martins Jct. near Montreal was completed by the Quebec Government and opened in February 1879. An additional 19 miles was opened between 1881 and 1883. On 27 May 1882 the North Shore was sold to a private syndicate (45 Vic., Cap. 27). Subsequently, in December 1882, the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada obtained control of the North Shore and operated it until 20 December 1885 when the Dominion Government acquired the North Shore Railway Company (Quebec) (48 Vic., Cap. 58).
