Lake St. Louis and Province Line Railway Company : The Lake St. Louis and Province Line Railway Company was incorporated on 24 June 1848 (10-11 Vic., Cap. 120) to build a railway from or near Sault St. Louis to the United States boundary. This 29.65 miles of line from Caughnawaga (opposite Lachine) to the boundary near Hemmingford, Quebec, was opened for traffic on 1 August 1852. Prior to this, on 1 January 1852, the Lake St. Louis and Province Line Railway Company and the Montreal and Lachine Railroad Company had amalgamated to form the Montreal and New York Railroad Company.
