Montreal and Lachine Railroad Company : The Montreal and Lachine Railroad Company was incorporated on 9 June 1846 (9 Vic., Cap. 82) to build a railway from Montreal to Lachine. On 22 November 1847 the 7.92 miles of line between Bonaventure Station in Montreal to Lachine Wharf was opened for traffic. While the company obtained authority to extend its railway to Prescott, Ontario, and to change its name to the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Grand Junction Railroad Company, neither the construction or name change was carried out. In 1852 the Montreal and Lachine Railroad Company amalgamated with the Lake St. Louis and Province Line Railway Company to form the Montreal and New York Railroad Company. RG30 General Inventory
