Highlights from the 1955 Canadian Open Golf Championship held near Toronto at the Weston Golf and Country Club, August 17 to 20. Arnold Palmer, 25 years old and in his 6th month of professional play, wins his first championship with rounds of 64, 67, 64, and 70 for a 23 under par total of 265 (still a club record as of June 21 1990).~Tournament organizer Phil Farley introduces the film mentioning some of the participants, including; Sam Snead, Jackie Burke, Tom Bolt, Ted Kroll and Freddy Hawkins. Golfing pointers are demonstrated by Dave Douglas, Fred Haas and Bob Gray. Haas demonstrates how Ben Hogan overcame a height disadvantage to produce a full swing.~Highlights from the tournament are shown including Charlie Sifford's opening day round of 63 equalling a Canadian Open record. The Canadian winner of the Rivermead Cup was Stan Leonard finishing fourth overall.~Palmer is presented with the Seagram Gold Cup by Bob Seagram and awarded $2400 in prize money. Palmer makes an acceptance speech at the conclusion. <26mn 30s>
