Subseries contains the legal records of the ICO and documents the rights of the company to operate on the Ottawa River. Included in the subseries are agreements with specific lumber companies regarding the operation of certain works, including those on the Black River, the Coulonge Chute, the Bryson Dam and the Bronson Slide. There are property files, deeds, inventories and valuations for lands owned by the ICO, as well as copies of court decisions affecting ICO activities. Of particular note are the extensive files on the court case between the ICO and the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario over dams constructed by the Hydro Commission on the Ottawa River.

Additional legal documents, especially those relating to the early years of the company, can be found among the files of W.N. Zwicker in the Administrative Correspondence subseries, and in the Dormant and Sundry Files subseries.
