Included are a variety of account books showing different types of loans made by bands from their accounts. Volume 11811 contains records of loans made by the Six Nations to individuals from band funds, c.1895-1936.
Volume 11811 contains the same type of information for the Fishing Lake Band in Saskatchewan for the period c.1922-1929. Also included in this volume are loans from Poorman's Band and others involving Rosseau River, Long Plain, Keeseekoose, Ochapowace, Kakewistahaw and White Bear.
There are five volumes of Closed Accounts (Vols. 11812-11816). These large, loose-leaf ledgers were set up by the Treasury representative in the early 1930s when all of the Department of Indian Affairs accounting was being updated. The accounts are similar in format to the Land Sale and Land Lease sheets used during this period. As well as the usual dates and amounts, there is also information about the purpose of the loans and the terms of repayment. The ledgers cover the period c.1899-1964.
Volume 11817 contains records of accounts covering the period c.1918-1949 which are similar to the Closed Accounts in make-up but concern miscellaneous and memo accounts. Researchers should be aware that accounts are not entered in numerical order.
There is one volume of loan approvals from band funds covering the period 1953 to 1965 (Volume 11818). The volume contains applications for loans from band funds, mostly from Alberta bands (Hobbema and Treaty 7 bands) with those of other areas scattered throughout. Details of the applicant's farming operations and financial position are included.
Volumes 11819 and 11820 contain applications for loans from the Revolving Fund. The records cover the period 1939 to 1966 and are loans to bands as well as to individuals. Applications list assets (buildings, machinery, livestock, etc.) which may help in the economic study of particular reserves. Applications are attached to the file chronologically; the records of reserves, agencies and provinces are mixed together.
Volume 11884 contains Soldiers Settlement Loan Accounts for the period c.1919-1954. These are accounts of loans made from Soldiers Settlement Funds to eligible borrowers.Additional information:Source of title:Title is based on the contents of the series.Accruals:No further accruals are expected.Source:GovernmentFormer archival reference no.:RG10-B-8-f -
