Sub-series consists of volumes containing information on timber cutting in the "old" Northern Superintendency, the Northern Superintendency, Division 1, the Manitowaning Agency, the Manitoulin Island Agency. Volumes 12866-12867 contain timberbooks which include particulars on how timber was cut at various locations administered by the above agencies. They indicate who did the work (e.g. which company), the amount of wood cut, the location of the work, and where the logs were hauled out. Volumes 12867, 12922-12923 include licenses, and documents relating to licenses, authorizing individuals to cut timber on Indian lands.

Volume 12925 includes three timber permit books which are duplicates of permits issued to Manitoulin Island Agency band members to cut timber on reserve land in 1951-1956, and a "Culler's return" of timber cut on Indian lands in 1908-1909. The same volume also contains a register of mining permits for some Manitowaning Agency townships.
