Willard of Chatham, Ontario who talks about his five years as a labourer-teacher with Frontier College from 1929 to 1934. Beginning in 1929 Willard recalls his work at the Seven Sisters Falls power project in Manitoba, the erection of the towers for the power lines between Brooklin, Ontario and Toronto, the mining work at the Ashley Gold Mines at Elk Lake, Ontario, at a government relief camp where the labourers worked on the construction of the Trans Canada Highway between Pembroke and Mattawa, Ontario and finally, the mining job at the International Nickel Company's Frood Mine near Sudbury in 1934. Noteworthy discussion of the working and living conditions at each work place and the classes in English, mathematics and other subjects. Comments about Alfred Fitzpatrick, founder of Frontier College, and Dr. Edmund Bradwin, former principal of the college, round out the interview.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
