The series consists of material designed by George Gunderson throughout his career as a stamp designer and engraver. Material includes proofs, essays, issued stamps, souvenir items, and a metal printing plate.

George A. Gundersen designed stamps and currency for various countries including; the United States, Iran, Venezuela, Bolivia, Sarawak, Sweden, Honduras and Great Britain. In addition to these designs, he also designed many corporate logos such as the logo for the University of Ottawa. Gundersen was the designer of many postage and revenue stamps for Canada done separately from his work at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, U.S.A., and the British American Bank Note Company, Ottawa.

Title based on contents of the series.

Custodial history:

Originally acquired by the National Postal Museum, Canada Post Corporation. Transferred to the Canadian Postal Archives, National Archives of Canada in 1988. Some material was acquired through Colin H. Bayley., Colin Bayley passed away in 1992 why or how the material came into Mr.Bayley's custody is unknown.
