Sub-series consists of records relating to Dominion lands in Western Canada. They were created and maintained by the Office of the Deputy Minister. The sub-series includes letters and memoranda relating to the Soldier Settlement Board. They cover the period 1918 to 1927 (Vols. 4-5) and were prepared by H.E. Humes, Deputy Commissioner of Dominion Lands.
Also found in this sub-series are the papers of T. Clifford of the Dominion Lands Branch. These records consist of materials relative to check of publications in 1930 for reference to minerals in Northwest Territories (Vols. 6-7); acts and mining regulations with index, 1924-1926 (Vols. 7-8); and miscellaneous papers relating to the Saskatchewan and Alberta Resources Commissions (Vols. 8-9).
Volume 10 in this sub-series contains a printed report and map related to Indian Treaty No. 8, 1899; an agreement between the Hudson's Bay Company and Minister of the Interior, 1924; Dominion Lands Regulations Concerning the Railway Belt of British Columbia, 1887-1926; a 1926 conference report on Dominion Lands Administration; a Petitions of Rights from the Yukon Company of Montreal,(1897-1906); three maps showing distribution of Dominion lands in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, in 1921; and a 1932 map illustrating federal and territorial expenditures in Yukon Territory. Volume 11 includes records relating to Waterton Lakes Park, 1922, and a report entitled "The Case Against Its Use for Irrigation Reservoir Purposes".
Also included in the sub-series are records related to the following subjects: the transfer of natural resources from the province of Alberta, Volumes I, II, IV, also memoranda prepared by the several branches for the Deputy Minister, 1925 (Vol. 11); staff lending and transfer of resources files, 1929-1934 (Vol. 12); agreements with Alberta and Manitoba, 1929 (Vol. 1999); Decisions (rulings) Nos. 1 to 1000, 1930-1932 (Vols. 1992-1998); transfer of resources to provinces and destruction of old files and records (file 5672360), 1930-1958 (Vol. 2006); statements of lands alienated by the Dominion in western provinces, 1872-1930 (Vol. 2000); tabulation of letters patent issued, 1883-1905 (Vol. 2000); and water rights in the British Columbia Railway Belt, 1886-1928 (Vol. 1991).
