Le fonds comprend des caricatures par Jean-Pierre Girerd créés au cours d'une carrière s'échelonnant sur environ trente ans au journal La Presse. Les dessins sont classés chronologiquement, selon quelques acquisitions distinctes. La plupart des oeuvres traitent de la scène politique nationale et des problèmes qui s'y rattachent. Le politicien favori en est Pierre Elliott Trudeau qu'on retrouve depuis ses débuts en politique jusqu'à sa retraite de la scène publique. Girerd a créé des portraits satiriques de plusieurs ministres des gouvernements Trudeau, Clark, Turner, Mulroney et Chrétien.
Les oeuvres qui touchent à la scène nationale comprennent des sujets tels que les relations fédérales-provinciales, la constitution, l'économie, le chômage, les budgets fédéraux, l'impôt, les grèves, les affaires étrangères, l'immigration, le libre-échange, le bilinguisme, les référendums du Québec (1980 et 1995), les scandales, les préoccupations de la femme, la pauvreté et les programmes sociaux, la santé, le sénat, la S.R.C. et la défense.
Les sujets internationaux incluent le terrorisme, le racisme, la dissolution des états russes, les coups d'état, les conflits armés, l'O.T.A.N., les conférences au sommet du G-7, la famine ainsi que les pays du tiers monde. Faisant partie des politiciens internationaux caricaturés, on retrouve George Bush, Jimmy Carter, Fidel Castro, Raoul Cédras, Bill Clinton, Jean-Claude Duvalier, Charles de Gaulle, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, Mikhail Gorbachev, François Mitterrand, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, et Boris Yeltsin.
Les sujets d'intérêt provincial s'attaquent à la loi sur les langues officielles, les promesses électorales et les résultats des élections, les syndicats, les autochtones et la crise d'Oka. Les politiciens représentés dans cette arène sont Jean-Jacques Bertrand, Lucien Bouchard, Robert Bourassa, Réal Caouette, Yvon Charbonneau, Yvon Dupuis, Daniel Johnson, Pierre-Marc Johnson, Louis Laberge, Pierre Laporte, Gérald Larose, Camille Laurin, Jean Lesage, René Lévesque, Claude Morin, Jacques-Yvan Morin, Jacques Parizeau, Marcel Pepin, Claude Ryan, et Camil Samson.
