FOAM WARNINGS - Report on urea-formaldehyde foam insulation (UFFI) which was approved by the government under the "CHIP" program and subsequently banned when medical problems arose. Includes sequence on meetings of angry homeowners who complain of medical problems and call on the government to finance the removal of UFFI from their homes. Commenting on how early warnings of the dangers of UFFI were ignored by the federal government are toxicologists, government researchers and others. André Ouellet, Minister of Consumer Affairs comments.~2. BRILL-O - Profile of Canadian high jumping champion Debbie Brill. Brill is seen winning the 1981 world record of 6'4"; competing in various international meets; and at home with her infant son. In an interview Brill discusses her sports career and her personal life. Also heard from is Lionel [Puge], Brill's coach.~3. Adrienne Clarkson reads letters from viewers.~4. A STRIKING FORCE - Examination of the growing militance of police unions and associations as police officers resort to strikes and political pressure to gain better working conditions and more influence to combat violent crimes. Includes footage of the prolonged Halifax police strike of 1981. Commenting on the rising frustration of police officers and calling for more rigorous prosecution of violent criminals are: Joe Ross, executive director of the Police Association of Nova Scotia; Jack Acroyd, Chief of Police (Toronto); and Halifax policemen, Paul McDonald and Chuck Scoffield. Expressing reservations on police militancy is Dr. Denis Forcese of Carleton University, author of a study of police unionism.~5. Preview of upcoming programs. <60mn>
