Sub-series consists of returns of mineral claims surveys in the Yukon Territory. The six returns are on tracing linen and include field notes. Both the plan and field notes bear the name of the claim, the numbers of the lot and group, a concise designation of the locality, the name of the person or persons for whom the survey was made, the name of the surveyor (H.G. Dickson, D.L.S.), and the date of the survey.

Yukon mining surveys : The Quartz Mining Regulations required that mineral claims be surveyed in compliance with instructions received from the Surveyor General. Owing to the remoteness of the Yukon Territory, the only surveyor present there acted upon general instructions from Ottawa, which also assigned the lot and group numbers for claims surveyed. The information regarding the location and priority of claims could only be obtained from the Dawson Surveys office which in the 1920s was under the control of the Gold Commissioner. Copies of the survey returns were filed with the Mining Recorder (later the Gold Commissioner), in duplicate with the Surveyor General, and were posted on the claim.
