Fonds consists of letters, 1953, home to his family. Also included are diary notes, 1953, in which Frommann describes his trip from Germany to Canada, his impressions of Canada and his early beginnings here. Written in German, the letters and diary notes express Frommann's anxiety about succeeding in the new land as well as present an interesting account of the different things he noticed as he adjusted to conditions here.

Frommann, Walter K., 1907- : Walter Frommann left Germany for Canada in 1953 because on his return to civilian life after World War II he had difficulty re-establishing himself in his profession as an engineer. Settling in British Columbia, he did his best to learn English as fast as possible so as to establish himself and function effectively in his profession.
