Canada. Treasury Board Secretariat. Administration Branch : The Administrative Policy Branch was created in 1970 to develop and monitor a comprehensive framework of policies and guidelines on Administrative procedures. The Branch instituted a "performance evaluation approach" and sought to replace the older Treasury Board reliance on minute regulation of procedures. The Branch is responsible for policy development and revision, planning and evaluation, and policy implementation and review in Federal administration. These responsibilities consist of contract review, real property and contracts policy, employee and administrative services, financial management and information systems. The Federal Identity Program is attached to this Branch. In the preparations for the 1976 Olympics the Branch was responsible for liaison between the federal government and the Olympic Organizing Committee. The Administration Branch is shared jointly with the Department of Finance and since 1978 with the Office of the Comptroller General. It is not an operational branch of the Secretariat, but a central service branch for the three separate departments. Occasionally records from this branch shed light on the operations of the Secretariat.
