Fonds consists of correspondence, memoranda and minutes relating to the founding and first seasons of the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, 1952-1963. (Photocopy made in 1973.)

Fonds also consists of photographs of Showalter at Shakespearian Festival Opening, Straford, Ontario; Showalter and unidentified man; Showalter and Donald Gordon, ca. 1953.

Showalter, Harrison A., fl. 1952-1967 : Dr. Harrison A. Showalter was chief chemist for the inspection branch of the Department of National Defence. In 1952, he became chairman of the original committee that organized the Stratford Shakespearean Festival. He became the first president of the Stratford Shakespearan Festival of Canada Foundation.
