Oral history interview by Guy Surprenant of Burt Scott (joined service 1955), Senior Correctional Officer, and Ken Storey (joined service 1955), Institutional Preventive Security Officer, both at Walkworth Penitentiary. Topics include: reasons for both men joining service as guards (Scott at Dorchester, Storey at Kingston Penitentiary [KP]); hiring procedure; early work routines and staff training; orientation; comparison of staff and inmate discipline in old and new systems; discipline at minimum, medium and maximum security levels; comments on Colonel Goad, warden at Dorchester and on workings of "Warden's court"; comments on Walter Johnstone (warden at KP) with particular mention of his role in dealing with a hostage taking incident; account of suicidal inmate; discussion of difficulty in stopping suicides; and humorous anecdotes concerning Harry Fuller and Harold Brown at KP. <37mn>
