Point Pelee National Park (Canada) : Point Pelee National Park, in southern Ontario, was established on 29 May, 1918. It is famous as a gathering place for bird watchers, as well as being renowned for its rare bird and plant life. Overuse of the park led to the establishment of a development plan in 1972 which placed a greater emphasis on conservation. It defined the park's three main functions: conservation of natural resources, park and nature interpretation, and day-use recreation. The park is run by a superintendent and the administrative offices for the park are in Leamington, Ontario.
