Canada. Canadian Forces Station (Ramore, Ont.) : Situated between Timmins and Kirkland Lake, Ontario, CFS Ramore and its airfield were initially established, paid for and manned by the USAF in 1952. In 1961 the RCAF took over the station where it was operated by RCAF 35 Radar Squadron. Its role was to collect, discriminate and transmit, to a designated SAGE centre, radar data appearing within the area of coverage. Ramore was commanded by Air Defence Command but under the operational control of Commander Northern NORAD Region and Commander 41st NORAD Division. On 10 August 1967 35 Radar Squadron was redesignated as CFS Ramore. The Canadian Forces Organizational Order 2.35, dated 27 October 1969, stated that CFS Ramore supported a section of cadets, 702 Communications Squadron Detachment, CFRC Detachment Kirkland Lake, Reserve Accommodation Timmins and Kirkland Lake. On 1 October 1974 CFS Ramore was closed-out. RG 24 General Inventory
