Allan frequently adapted his own work for various purposes and generally the adaptations have been filed with the original works, causing some overlap among the sub-series (for example, correspondence relating to the stage adaptation of a prose work may be found in Manuscripts - Prose). Because it was not always clear what medium the manuscripts were intended for, care should be taken to search all sub-series when looking for a particular work.
