Series includes material that Dr. Hubbard took with him to Government House, where it was stored as part of his personal papers. With the exception of one file containing inventory notes for a personal art collection, this series consists of original correspondence to Dr. Hubbard as well as copies of his replies. Dr. Hubbard corresponded with art galleries, museums, archives, universities, cultural associations, churches, art collectors, art curators, art historians, students, patrons and artists. The letters, often personal in tone, range from administrative matters to expressions of personal sentiments. The correspondence relates to travel arrangements, lectures, teaching, conferences, advice on thesis topics, recommendations on employment, exhibitions, academic papers, research projects, catalogues, art, architecture and music. A few of Hubbard's frequent correspondents are: Esmund Butler, Norah Michener, J. Russell Harper, Mrs. H.A. (Bobby) Dyde, Ferdinand Eckhardt and artists Alex Colville, Lawren P. Harris, Goodridge Roberts, Charles Comfort, Louis Archambault, B.C. Binning, Jack Shadbolt and Molly Bobak.

Six letters, 1969-1988, have been placed in vol. 43.
