Papers of the Board of Trade. The chief topics include: French encroachments on British rights in North America; the claims of John Nelson (1654-1734) to Nova Scotia in right of his uncle, Sir Thomas Temple, Bart. (1614-1674); fishing rights; English claims to sovereignty over the Five Nations Indians and the French efforts to detach them from their British allegiance. The transcripts are bound in a volume entitled "Lords of Trade Reports, 1698-1700." Other copies of the items it contains may also be found in MG 11, C.O. 5; C.O. 323; and C.O. 324. Lansdowne MSS. 849, Nos. 14-28, ff. 28-78 and Nos. 31-36, ff. 82-95.
