Series consists of papers of English author and airman Richard Hillary and material relating to Lovat Dickson's biography of him. Included is correspondence to and from Hillary, transcripts of journal entries, typescripts, memorabilia and other material (vols. 12-13 or microfilm reels H-2923 to H-2924).

Also included is correspondence of his parents, Michael and Edwyna Hillary, regarding the life and work of their son (vol. 14 or microfilm reel H-2924); correspondence between Lovat Dickson and Michael Hillary, as well as correspondence between Lovat Dickson and Michael Hillary's second wife, Chryss (vol. 14 or microfilm reels H-2924 to H-2925); manuscript and correspondence concerning Michael Burn's edited transcript of the Richard Hillary - Mary Booker correspondence (vol. 14 or microfilm reel H-2925); and material relating to the career of Michael Hillary (vol. 14 or microfilm reel H-2925). The series includes material relating to Arthur Koestler and Eric Linklater.
