Segments from the network version of the CBC television current affairs program NEWSMAGAZINE, as follows:~Crowds going into Exhibition Park, probably to see a football game, possibly the Grey Cup. Also seen is a shot of the football field.~NEWSMAGAZINE opening logo.~Item entitled "Natural Resources", showing logging in an unidentified mountainous area, possibly British Columbia. Loggers are shown cutting down trees. Logs are loaded onto trucks, one with a sign painted on its door saying Forest Products Ltd. CFP 1549. Logs being dumped into a river.~Item entitled "The Arts", showing a park called Thunderbird Park, with Indian lodges and totem poles. School children are seen visiting the park. Two men carve poles and a young boy helps.~Item entitled "Agriculture", showing apple picking and packaging in the Okanagan Valley. Trucks carrying crates of apples drive past buildings marked Kelowna Growers Exchange and Keloka Orchards Ltd. Women workers are shown inspecting apples and packing them into boxes.~The title for an item entitled "Education", with the subsequent story edited out.~Item entitled "The Armed Forces", showing a man going to a Canadian navy recruiting centre, signing a form, getting a medical examination, and being fitted for a sailor's uniform. A group of sailors are shown boarding a ship and working on the ship as it goes out to sea. They wear caps marked HMCS Discovery. Among the shipboard activities shown are washing the deck, examining a map, a man going from one ship to another via a rope and pulley, eating, working in the engine room, and a religious service. <25mn>
