The series consists of the register of baptisms and marriages of the Church of Scotland parish of Lochiel Township, Glengarry County, Ont. The register is reasonably complete up to 1845, but there are many gaps after that date and only baptisms were recorded after 1857.

Custodial history:

The Church of Scotland register of Lochiel Parish was retained in the family of Donald Urquhart, a former Clerk of Session of the church. The Archives of Ontario microfilmed the register in 1966 from originals held by Mrs. Angus Urquhart of Greenfield, Ont. A microfilm copy was received by the National Archives of Canada in 1972 from Mrs. Mary (C.A.) Beaton of Ottawa, Ont.
