J. F. Frost is interviewed about his experiences with the 29th Battalion during World War I. Enlisting in 1914 with the Medical Corps, Frost describes his training in "stretcher drilling, first aid, sick parade and number nines." He reads several entries from his diaries describing his medical work in the trenches at Kemmel where he treated many "grievously" wounded soldiers. Assigned to a dressing station during the battle of the St. Eloi Craters, he says, "The Germans just blew us out." He remembers treating both British and Canadian soldiers wounded by constant shelling and gas attacks.~Turning to his recollections of the Canadian attack on the Regina Trench at the battle of the Somme, he reveals that he has accumulated a list of over 500 men who were killed during that offensive. He concludes the interview with a description of the detailed preparations for the Vimy offensive and recalls that "They [the Germans] started to shell, and by God, one got me even though I heard this thing coming and put me hand up like this." "That was the last I saw of the war."
