Series consists of thirty-four field books containing sketches and estimates related to architecture and surveying. The first fifteen books belonged to J.W. Evans, who used them for survey sketches of sites in the Belleville area and for cost estimates concerning the expansion of the Rathbun Company mill 1900-1906. The latter nineteen books were most likely the property of J.D. Evans, J.W. Evans' father, who used them in his survey and architectural work in Belleville, Hastings County and Peterborough County during the Confederation era.
