Series consists of letters from Leon Edel in Yorkton, Sask., 1922-1923 and in Montreal 1923-1926 to Caplin in Birmingham; from Edel in France 1929-1931 and in Montreal again 1932-1933 to Caplin in Saltcoats, Sask.; from Edel in London and New York and during his war service in the U.S. and overseas 1934-1948 to Caplin studying at the University of Saskatchewan and working for the Leader-Post, Regina; and from Edel in Honolulu 1983 to Caplin during both's retirement.

Also included are 5 letters from Leon Edel's brother Abe to Caplin and 8 letters from Leon Edel to Caplin's widow Alice; 4 issues of the McGill Daily Literary Supplement (1924) and 2 issues of the McGill Fortnightly Review (1926).
