Series consists of correspondence, certificates, notebooks, estate records, newspaper clippings and other family papers, 1739-1954.

The papers are arranged chronologically in three series: a general series, volumes 4-5, newspaper clippings, volume 6, and miscellaneous items, volume 6.

Also included in this series is a document in horizontal storage: the Hale Family Tree for the period 1594-1858, located in container 7.

General note:

The genealogical notebook was received in 1985 from the National Army Museum, London, England. All other material received in 1978.
As noted in the Finding Aid, certain items were transferred to other Divisions for safekeeping.
