Series consists of the records from the Winnipeg office of Jewish Immigrant Aid Service focusing on Jewish immigration settlement in Manitoba and the prairies. The records of the JIAS consist of the following: case files, arranged in alphabetical order, relating to the efforts of Canadian Jewry in assisting their relatives to emigrate to Canada, 1923-1950. Sequentially numbered files dealing with various matters arranged under such headings as meetings, reports and minutes, general correspondence, financial, JIAS office and Sheltering Home, subject files, regional files, refugees, tracers and parcels, 1923-1950.

Jewish Historical Society of Western Canada : The Jewish Immigrant Aid Services, originally called the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society, is an agency established by a resolution of the first Plenary Session of the Canadian Jewish Congress. The motto "From Immigrant to Citizen" embodies the aims of the organization. The JIAS services include assistance to sponsors of immigrants, assistance in application procedures, travel arrangements, naturalization, documentation and integration programs.
