This television program is about the installation of a large Casavant pipe organ in Dominion-Chalmers United Church in downtown Ottawa. It shows: the organ, the construction of the organ, church officials discussimg plans to install a new organ, still photographs of the 1955 Easter Sunday fire which damaged Chalmers Church, film footage of the February 1961 fire which destroyed Dominion Church, whose congregation later amalgamated with Chalmers to form Dominion-Chalmers Church, visuals of the organ, performances by the organist, discussion of the design of the organ and the organ loft to optimize the sound of the organ, the exterior of the Casavant Frères factory in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, organ components being manufacturered at the factory, including lumber being dried in kilns, factory workers making various parts, the dismantling and removal of the old organ in Dominion-Chalmers Church, the casting of metal organ pipes at the factory, cutting the pipes to give them the correct voice and tone, preparing reeds, tuning, making rack boards for pipe chests, making components of the organ console, engraving the name plates on the organ console, making the pedals, assembling the wooden cabinetry enclosing the organ console and other parts, the completed organ being fully assembled in the plant and tested there; packing the organ parts for shipment to Ottawa; a Casavant truck leaving the factory; the arrival at Dominion-Chalmers Church of the first of the three trucks carrying the organ parts, the offloading of the chimes from the original organ, restored at the Casavant plant, the assembly of the organ by a crew sent by Casavant Fréres, testing the organ in the acoustics of the church, views of the assembled organ in the church, a recital performed on the organ by William E. France of music by Johann Sebastian Bach. <57mn 45s>
