Worthington about: a newspaper advertisement criticizing government tank policy; the need for military training equipment; the usefulness of tanks; the Canadian Armed Forces Association; lectures and press interpretation; tank training; the government’s reversal of its policy on armoured vehicles for the army; shopping for tanks at the start of the Second World War when the U.S. was still neutral; Canada having to buy the tanks as scrap iron to get around American neutrality; how the Canadians got the tanks across the border; buying Renault talks for $120 apiece; tanks breaking down a lot in training; the First Army Tank Brigade; tank safety; First World War tank warfare; the use of tanks in the Battle of Amiens compared to the situation during the Battle of the Somme; his mechanical ability; the influence of various generals; the future of armoured warfare; nuclear warheads; the flexibility, speed and mobility of modern armoured vehicles; the fate of the tank in the era of the nuclear warhead; the quality of German, Russian and American tanks; (the interview is at Scene 1, Take 4 at this point) a story about the experiences of front-line soldiers during the battle of Vimy Ridge, when communications broke down and a unit attacked when it was not supposed to; (the interview is at Scene 1, Take 5 by this point); what Worthington did in the period between the First and Second World Wars; the cost-effectiveness of tanks and the observation that the lower casualty rate in the Canadian army during the Second World War can be attributed to the use of tanks.
