Series consists of two letters of John Hughes to Col. Alexander McNutt concerning the promotion of settlement, 1764, 4 pages; five letters of Anthony Wayne to Hughes, and one reply concerning his surveys and efforts to obtain grants, 1765, 12 pages; agreement between A. Wayne, J. Hughes, Isaac Hughes and John Hughes, Jr., 1765, for the promotion of settlement, 1 page; A. Wayne's accounts against J. Hughes, 1765-1766, 2 pages; and a letter of Isaac Caton to Jacobs and Wayne reporting on his surveys, 1765, 3 pages.

Also included is a copy of a grant made to Alexander McNutt and associates, 1765, 4 pages; extract from Nova Scotia and registers, n.d., 2 pages; and a promissory note of Thomas Jones, 1771, 1 page. A table of contents is included in the volume.
