Buchanan outlines responsibilities of the Conservation Branch and the Indian Affairs program, reviewing specific problems and aims of the latter. His basic message is that Canadians have an obligation to provide opportunities for Canada's native people to help them participate in various communities. The second side of the audiocassette contains Buchanan's speech to the University Women's Club in London. He discusses Indian affairs, conservation and Northern development, with particular reference to unequal treatment accorded to Indian women under the Indian Act. Questions from the audience follow the second speech. <70mn>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
