The series consists of material relating to special projects undertaken or planned by the Social Science Federation of Canada. In the early years, the projects were often series of publications on related areas of social science research. Some of the subjects were the Social Credit movement, biculturalism, Indian research, the Atlantic provinces, Canadian historical statistics, economic growth, and decision-making in Canada. Some later projects included the Women's Issues Network, commemoration of its 50th anniversary, the Green Plan, and the Task Force on the Development of Ethical Guidelines. There are more extensive files for three special projects which form their own individual sub-series: the Senate Committee on Science Policy, the Committee on the Fund for International Relations, and the Data Clearing House for the Social Sciences in Canada. The latter sub-series includes sound recordings.
